Religion is a contentious issue at the best of times, but we don’t have to be religious to show compassion and love. One of the greatest humanitarians of the 20th Century, Mother Teresa, supposedly struggled with her own faith for many years. Mother Teresa was the founder of the Order of the Missionaries of Charity – a group of women who were dedicated to help the poor and less fortunate. In 1979 Mother Teresa won the Nobel Peace Prize in recognition of her humanitarian work.
